Re: 91 Mustang Coupe

Thanks everyone!

I have the engine nestled between the fenders, but a few questions came up from it. Can I run power steering, and can I run the hydroboost brakes.

Re: 91 Mustang Coupe

I messed around with the car again today. After opening some holes, and notching some existing ones, I got the hydroboost seated (which made sense after I thought about it, it was ran in 4V cobras with no issues *smacks head)

As for the power steering, I need the right pulley, and to notch the sway bar mount (slight crash with the inlet or outlet spout, not sure which).

I also put the dash in to see wtf I'm going to do about that. I think I may make a custom tunnel for the car so I can run a S197 trans. I'm going to take a step back from that again, and get back to the suspension.

If I get out there tomorrow, I will probably try to button up the left mini tub, and get the springs and shocks installed. If not, then it won't happen until next week. I'm going to the Auto Show downtown Thursday, then have hockey. Friday I will probably get drunk. Saturday is the launch of the 2014 Grand Cherokee, so I have to be at the plant. Sunday is football with gramps, and two more hockey games. Woot woot.

Re: 91 Mustang Coupe

sounds like its coming along really well, if you are getting a custom tunnel, you could make it out of alum, or you could fiberglass your own.....will let you create whatever you want...gauges, switches...etc. and for a tranny, why not look at a T-56?

I was thinking of cutting out whats there, raising it up to the height I need, and reusing it (adding in new sheet metal between the floor and the raised tunnel. I'm still not sure yet.

I do want to go with a t56. The thing is, using the S197 dash and console forces the shifter location rearward. I can cut the dash more to move it forward, and stick with the fox platform trans shifter location, but I might not be able to run the S197 HVAC. I'll try to get some pics tonight so you can see what I'm talking about. We shall see. Ultimately, I bit off more than I can chew, but I'll figure it out.

Re: 91 Mustang Coupe

hmmm, yes I see your dilemma.....ya best thing to do is create a cardboard cutout and play with it till you figure out what to do. I would also think if your shifter position in a fox was further back it may not feel comfortable sitting in the drivers seat.

Re: 91 Mustang Coupe

So, per usual I'm all over the damn place on this car. So I dont know where the fuck I left off, so here's what I know. I have the dash fitted to where I want it, just need to do a lil more trimming and make some IP mounts.

I had the watts link installed, then yanked the rear end back out to rebuild and change out the 4.1 to 3.73.

The front suspension I started putting back together. I have camber caster plates now. I'm waiting on dust covers for the shocks, then it can all come together. I know I need bumpsteer for this, but I dont know if I need 79-93 or 94-04 because I'm running 94-04 control arms.

I also tossed the 4.6 in it, looked good. I think there's more room than I realized to use the adaptor plates and 2v long tube headers, instead of removing the 2v flanges and welding 3v flanges on.

I started riveting (instead of screwing) the GT ground effects on it as well. I need to get 91-93 fenders so i can finish. I need to do a little better fitting on the trunk lid as well. it's not sitting right.

I basically dick with the car when I'm playing frisbee with the dog (while waiting for him to bring it back). I've been building at work, so I dont have the free time I'd like. Plus its kinda cold to keep me motivating.

Re: 91 Mustang Coupe

Converted the auto trans harness to a manual trans harness. Also flipped the fuel rails 180 (since the inlet is on the left side on S197, and the right side on the fox) and shortened the fuel pressure regulator t/o. OH the joys of being a wiring engineer! Next will be mating the fox wiring with the S197 dash. My goal is to try to fire this up by January of '14 when my bro is back in town...we shall see.

Work is lighter now. I launched the 14 Durango, and then was moved to the Wrangler platform to learn to manage a team on my own.
