Need a boat...

... to work on my car. We're under flood warnings until Thursday.
I hauled my parts for my fresh motor out of the basement and put them on the back deck. I'm in one of the higher areas, but I have this little creek
that is barely a trickle most of the time like 30 feet from the house. The banks are like 25 feet high so it won't flood, but the basement still seems to be collecting water. I've got cables for the Dish and puter strung temporary,
so all I have to do is run them in windows if the basement starts flooding, but I'm worried about my block and head.
The machine shop I sent them too is in a low area near a river.
There are streets blocked off, highways closed, and (ironic this) the Coast Guard station down by the river has had to evacuate from flood waters.
Between all this, with the Platte River 2 miles out of it's banks and the Missouri
River getting into our town, and the town of Greenburg Kansas being left with 2 buildings standing where they were before a tornado leveled the town, I'm thinking maybe they should just declare Kansas a lost cause and help us all move to Arizona.

Hope everything stays dry. Those folks in Greensburg need all the help and prayers that they can get. That goes for everyone that has water coming up to the house/garage/shop...........whererever. BTW, things are fairly good here in Wichita and I ain't movin'.

Wink

Well, they say the water is receding, but I still drove 30 miles out of the way to get my wife to work this morning. A 15 minute trip turns into a 1 hour tour, going North, East, South, West and using mostly Interstate highways.

And once the water goes down, what's the highway going to look like? I've
seen highways closed for weeks and months due to the water soaking in under it and making it buckle. And we're talking a couple of miles or road.

But what P.O.s me to the max is the Platte City gas stations that are open are charging $3.09/9 a gallon! I think it's nothing but profiteering!! I noticed also that diesel did not go up one cent!
And I noticed all the boats sitting around with For Sale signs on them have
been snapped up. What's that saying about horses and barn doors???

Well I hope everyone else is getting back to normal for the moment.

Unhappy

Flood warning extended to SUNDAY evening.
It hasn't rained since Tuesday, but the water is just staying put.
Now I'm seriously thinking of buying a boat.
Anyone trade a small boat for a well used 2000 Ford ZX2?

Monday at 5PM.
The weather sevice dropped all alerts and warnings. YEAH!
I can get through on the roads, but Platte county is still a mess. Saw a guy checking out a field in a John Boat! He was like 200 yards from the river. What is above water looks pretty dead, and there are dead trees and junk everywhere. Me thinks the farmers in that area are screwed, blued and tattooed!
And now it is susposed to rain again tonight and tommorrow!
I just hope everyone else is doing better, or there will be a HUGH price
$urge in the $tores.
At least the basement didn't flood!
