when should i shift

i usualy shit at 6500 through 123 and at 6000 into 4th but is this a good idea because the shifter seems to start vibrating quite a bit after 6000"

Is your car an '01 Cobra? If so, those cars make power later in the revs, so you probably need to shift as high as possible. I had a '99 Cobra and if I remember, it had a limiter at like 7000 or 7200. I would shift close to 6700. If the tranny is vibrating bad, you might have an out-of-balance flywheel or another problem.

i had a chat with a drag car racer/builder about this a few years back...he said every car is different and if you have access to a dyno, you should take a few runs on it and find out where your car makes peak power and shift about 50 RPM's after that. every gear is different too. if you are a good power shifter then you shouldn't drop too much out of your power band and should be able to stay in it through the end.
