I would suggest leaving the stock mufflers in place and replacing just the factory h-pipe with an off road h pipe. It will increase the sound but it wont get crazy loud...

Thanks, but i can't go with off road stuff. The Portland Oregon metro area has strict DMV testing and emissions check. Without the catalitic (sp?) converters (i assume that o/r pipes omits the cats), they would flunk me.

catback will work just fine and it will change the sound of your car but still allow you to pass emissions testing.

HI all, Rankus06 here with my first post.

Barry06GT,

I wanted the same for my 06 GT. I installed a pair of Magnaflow axle backs and they were quieter than stock. Then I tried a pair of Flowmaster axle backs. They sound great! Not much louder than stock with an awesome muscle car low rumble. I plan on adding an catted H-pipe after my warranty is up for a little more performance and sound. Also I swear my gas mileage went up.

Thank you Rankus06, maybe I will give the Flowmaster's the nod.

Is there a specific model, or is there only one axle (cat) back model for the 05-07 GT?

Thanks again!
