cams question

ok i just got off the phone from my buddy in North Carolina and he asked if i could post this up for him.
He owns a 2001 Roush N/A that he bought a few years ago that was already modded. He said he was having some idling issues a few weeks ago so he took it to ford and they told him that the computer had a custom chip that wasnt installed properly so they removed it and reflashed the computer to ford specs and charged him like $800. Hes pissed because now the car doesnt want to idle at all unless hes giving it some gas and he says its way down on power.
So he wants to order a hand held programmer but needs to know what size cams it has and he has no idea. Is there a way to check the cams, like numbers on the ends or anything?? Hes pretty sure they are ford racing cams but not sure what size or anything

I'm willing to bet that he didn't take it to a Roush dealer, did he? I would suggest he call Roush or a Roush dealer and find out what size cams. He might also ask about the chip/tune that came with it. They might even send him the tune it originally had on it.

i am guessing it was probably modded by a previous owner. about the only way to find the specs on the cams are to remove the valve covers and he may have to remove the cam gears to see what the specs on the cams are. or contact said previous owner and ask......?

yeah it was modded by a guy out of florida and he lost his contact info. I was just wondering if the cams might have some numbers on them. Hes trying to find a performance shop in north carolina he can trust to check it out for him. I dont know if hes wanting to tear into himself or not, thanks guys
