Re: What size dish piston?

If your going to do a stroker and spend all that money I would say you should at the very least go with 10-10.5 to 1 compression. You can still use 92-93 octane fuel with that compression but get more power out of it..and why not build it for a blower? Those mod motors struggle without boost or nitrous. What say you

Re: What size dish piston?

no you are absolutely correct in your thinking. I just saw your post where it said it was for an N/A application. The best compression for a blown street car is anwhere from 8.5-1 to 9.2-1 or so. But the wonderful thing about head gaskets are you can go thicker and drop your compression down. Take for instance my dart stroker motor, It has flat top pistons and my compression is going to be around 9.1-1 compression with a thicker cometic gasket with studs to hold the heads down. But if I went with a thinner gasket I can jump back up to 11-1 compression take the blower off and throw Nitrous on it. It's all about having a versatile motor. So for you if you got a flat top piston that would put you at 10-1 compression and a year from now bought a blower, take your heads off put a Thick cometic gasket on it and your ready to roll.

Re: What size dish piston?

Just ask the people who make the short block, tell them you have stock heads that are just ported and they will tell you what there setup will make with stock cc heads and a stock thickness gasket.
