Throttle Body

After some delay, my BBK Cold Air is on its way (
Cold Air - Mustangs Insanity (Cold Air)
). Hoping to have by Saturday so I can install over the weekend. Next question is about throttle bodies. I've read in a couple place that a CAI/Throttle Body combo can give a nice boost to the V6 'Stang. My question is, what exactly does the throttle body do? Also, would changing one require a chip flash/tune? I can't any information one way or the other.

I love Mustangs (this is my fourth... no wait... my fifth) but I am not a mechanic, I am a computer guy.

Thanks for all your help guys.

(Next on list: Cervini's B2 Chin Spoiler (V6))

CAI induction and a Throttle body will increase the hp on your V6. By getting cooler and more air effiecienly is what the TB and CAI wil do. I also Recommend UnderDrive Pullies, Headers, full exhaust , and gears for you sixer.A tune is not necessary but would also increase Hp. Good Luck

I actually thought about pullies, but I can't find a set for a V6, they are all for the GT.

I do have a dual exhaust on the car already. However, it was on there when I purchased the car. Not sure if it a true/full exhaust or just a second pipe. Haven't had time to prop the car up and get under it. However, according to some others that have ridden in my car, the car doesn't feel like a V6 nor does it sound like one.

Headers and gears... not sure about those yet.

If I had 40K to spend, I would buy an '08 Shelby GT 500 ($42,170). But thanks for the suggestion.

Underdrive pulley is on the list. Is it just the one pulley? For my '86 I had to switch out 3 pulleys

Good luck in finding one for that ! Have you seen the mark-up on them ? Talk about price gouging. I believe i would rather have a Terminator.

a throttle body and plenum, and a SPACER, will be the best bet for induction HP...you already have an exhaust so this will just let the whole system breathe easier, but the issue is gonna be that your comp will have a hard time with all the air (pull your plugs and i guarentee that with a stock tune your plugs will be white) so an important step will be a tuner to really check the A/F ratio.
