What? A rev limiter?!

:cwm21: Ok.... I just got my first Mustang...'05, V6... only 5500 miles!
Love the car... GT was out of my price range for the time being, but I was shocked to discover the rev limiter in 4th and 5th gear. Keeps the car to 115 mph (or so). Does the Xcalibrator remedy this problem? Not like I need to go that fast all the time or anything, but I'm just wondering if reflashing gets rid of that problem.

I heard there was a governor on the GT as well. Is this true?

I think it will do exactly what you are looking for. Here is a great place to buy it from: http://www.americanmuscle.com/sctxc9.html

Fastest I've gone in my '05 V6 was 105... well, at least that's what the highway patrol officer said. Personally, I think I was going faster.

Yeah when you get that limit issue dealt with, let me know how it does.?. P.S. I can tell you that looking down can get you killed, or do you really want to ask GOD what happened? The last wreck I got into was a stupid rearend job. The State Trooper asked me my side of the accident, I said officer I "looked down, I looked up, had wreck". 6 words described my ignorance! He just smiled and said that was the shortest report he ever filled out...LOL...

I always want to be able to tell the story correctly. When I was in high school I was sitting in the window of my own car with a buddy driving when he swerved around a corner and I wasn't holding on. We had done this four or five times but I was always holding on. As you can imagine I calmly exited the vehicle. When my buddy came back the first thing that I asked him was how fast he was going and he said forty. It was not a fun trip but you can understand the situation better because you know how fast we were going when I flew out the window.LOL

Dammit man that had to fucking hurt! I knew you were just Bullshitting about looking down, I never knew there was a story behind it though. Thanks for sharing the tale. I had a friend that had a built 79' camaro with a 4 speed. He had just put in a high speed rear end and he let me drive since he had a susp. DL. Well we left the stop sign and he had his feet out the window on the mirror... I revved it real slow up to about 4500 and he looked at me and said DONT DO IT, well HELL YES I popped that motha for ya into 2nd and kept it pinned till it redlined. His legs swung around in the door and his head went down in the floor board by the heater core. He couldn't do anything but laugh!!! He looked like a dam turtle that couldn't get off his back...LOL!!!!!!
SORRY vonblinden 22.....Didn't mean to twist your thread!!!! later, Allen...

Joeybutta 04-24-2007 11:58 AM

thats funny

vonblinden22 04-24-2007 05:03 PM

As far as the looking down thing... well, I've got a whole lot of time clocked in on the crotch rockets... I currently have an '06 Suzuki GSX-R 1000... let me tell ya'... they're unbelievably fast... I've gone over 170 mph on those, but after riding for a long time, you can chill on the highway going 130 or so and not even feel like you're going that fast. It's all a matter of perception and training your brain, so 115 in the cock pit of something as substantial as a Mustang doesn't really feel that crazy.

juiced2002gt 04-25-2007 06:15 AM

ive hit 130 in mine before and never cut off...im sure i wasnt too far from it though and done 170 on my gixxer several times...theres nothin like it
