| As far as corn grown here feeding the hungry world, how would we get it there. Can you imagine transportation costs to move a ton of corn to Haiti. How much will that add to the overall cost? Who would pay for the transportation? A poor nation couldn't afford it.
As far as corn prices going up because of a shortage due to part of the harvest going to fuel. At harvest time around here there will be corn piled on the ground outside of the silos since there will be a shortage of storage. There is plenty of corn. The reason prices are going up for the consumer are not due to production, it is due to processing costs. Less than 5% of the cost of a box of corn flakes is the price of the corn. The rest goes to the processor.
